CR 33's too big for a z1000 ?

I'm rebuilding my z1000a and as usual I just can't leave things standard. My katana 11 project has been shelved for ages and I had bought a new set of 33 CR's for it.....I'm wondering now if I should put these on my z1000a as it will likely be finished well before the Kat is.....are they too big for road use though on this motor ?

Probably a littel to big if its a standard motor you would be better off with some 29's or std 26/28's.

I ran RS36's on my old Z1000 for years - no probs. It only had a Wiseco 1075, flowed head and standard cams and went well.
CR33's may be okay if set up right - you'd expect them to be a bit "lacking" on low throttle/revs?
It won't hurt to try them out as you've got them... just be sure to let us know

33's are maybe a little overboard if it's stock spec and may cause woolly running at low revs.
I do have vm32 ex katana 1000 smoothbores on my Z1R which is currently running 1075 wiseco's, Manzano head, bigger valves, std cams, 4-1 pipe and it does run smooth from tickover but I did have the std 28's on it prior to those and it ran just as well though.

cheers fellas.....I might try them as they are gathering dust. It does sound like I would be better off just using the standard carbs though...I could always stick belmouths on em (with mesh filters)....yeah I know belmouths aren't recommended for the sake of the motor but they do look and sound the dogs danglies and I don't do many miles

I have a set of CR31's on my Z1000 with a WISECO 1075 kit, Z1000J head with lumpy cams and it runs really sweet. Bought the CR31'S as I was told CR33's would be a little bit over size.
Give them a go, cant hurt.
But CR carbs are a bit of a bugger to get set upright. But once they are set up they do not need much adjustment.

Has taken me a few years from initial rebuild to get where I am.
I was lucky - Mazocchis came from ebay,
Swing arm bought it off a Z1OC club member.
I am still have a few little bits to sort out, but nothing major.
The rearsets are Tarozzi's.
Good luck with the search, and be patient.

The engine wear caused by using bellmouths is always over exaggerated.
Had bellmouths on the z1r nearly 20 yrs and thousands of miles rain or shine no problems or excessive bore wear.
Got em' on the alloy café too.
Get some air corrector jets fitted to the carbs at the same time.
Think Grumpys still have them.

I have fine wire mesh on the rear of my bellmouths.

Have on mine too.
Wouldn't run them without.
