Z1000P Police - width between fork centres.

Afternoon all,

I've had a scour ont t'interweb and have come up with a vague answer to this question, but does anyone know the width between fork centres on a copper Zed? I believe it could be 210mm, but if anyone has one (which I believe a couple of folks do) could you please have a measure and let me know?

Hi mate ,yes its wider i can give you bearing to bearing on front wheel has i have a set with new tyres on ,the rear is same as Z1r and the front takes Z1000 /900 discs 4 stud,

bearing width is 107mm.

disc face across is 93mm

Thanks Ted, though I'm afraid it doesn't really help me. I'm hopefully picking up some Dymags this weekend and I'm trying to work out in advance what I'll need to do to fit them in with the few disc types that will fit the hubs, and also how my Grimeca calipers will squeeze in too. At least if I know the width of the Police yokes I'll know how much wider than my J yokes I can go if I need to (30-odd mm hopefully!).

At the moment I have a Z1300 front wheel and ST discs with spacers behind and have clearance between the calipers and the spokes, and between the discs and forks too. But, this is why your measurements don't help as there's no real reference to what I'll be doing.

Not very scientific but CMSNL show an 83 Z1000P as having a front wheel spindle of 259mm and the RHS bearing outer spacer as 30mm. Just measured the J's original front wheel spindle at about 229 -230mm and the outer collar as 20mm.
This suggests though it may not be the case that the forks are 40mm wider apart!!!!!!!!

Cheers Al, that probably ties-in then. I measured the fork spacing on my J earlier today and off the top of my head they were 172mm between centres, so it sounds like I might have 38mm to play with if I need to go for the bobby yokes! Though, this afternoon it occurred to me that I'd need to modify my fork brace.

I'm hoping I'll get away with stock yokes....

Sorry was having a senior moment when i did that, its just the 30 or so very very approx mm's difference between the different spindle lengths. Was painting the ceiling (Yes done me hair too) and removing bearings from my rear hub (yes burnt me fingers) and got all dizzy and confused
