Oil Cooler fitting

#1 PostAuthor: Fred the Zed » Fri Sep 30, 2016 1:48 pm

Got a HEL 13 row oil cooler today... nice quality but of kit. A bit of simple fabrication to make it fit but I've struck on a problem I hadn't anticipated: The tacho drive cable is in the way.

Is there a simple solution? I don't really want the expense of having to buy an electronic tacho, but....

Are the cooler fittings on top or the bottom...? I think this makes the difference in terms of space.

Hi Chrisu...Did you dispense with the cable tacho drive then?

Best to have fittings on TOP if possible - helps retain oil to assist oil flow on start-up! Also enables more oil capacity in system as it don't flow back into sump

Hi Pigford
Do you know how to fit an oil cooler and retain the tacho drive?

not at all

I'll dig a photo out for you. Bit old and been tidied up since but gives you an idea. Just clears the cooler bracket.

Did you drill the frame to fit the bracket then?

I got a slightly longer cable made by some crowd that make cables, think it was about £20 quid
