Want to change the handlebars on the LTD for something a lot lower, can you get the lower bars with the holes in for the indicator/switchgear wiringor will I have to fit normal bars and change the indicator stems to fit onto the headlamp mounting.

also if you can get original (z1000a1/2) l/h and r/h switch gears , as they are the ones that go through the bars , difficult but it can be done with patience. the other ones have a block at the end and wont go through the holes, dont think they sell switch gears for the z1000a1/2 hole now so it might have to be 2nd hand.

Having just rewired my Z1000A1 handbar switches I can vouch for what a pain in the arse it is getting the wires through the bars - and I used thinwall conductors with heat shrink which makes it somewhat thiner than the originals.
If you crimp a straight splicer to one of the wires and then put a bit of heat shring over the splice and the rest of the wire ends you can then fix a 'mouse' to the splicer and that will easily go through the bar and you can carefully use that to put the rest through. I can't imagine the cable group would go through with the bullets on. I actually thought that bullets made a right royal mess under the tank so I have put multiblocks on instead - much neater

Big John, if you can't get the lower bars with "hole-thru" facility don't worry and just do as most Z's do and have the cables clamped to the bars.
The more serious items you will have to consider are:
Your throttle & clutch cables and may be too long?
The front master cylinder brake hose be too squashed? (May have to have a shorter hose).
The left and right hand control cables may be too long, and have to be cramped up on the coils?.
The only good word I have to say for those hole-thru handle bars is, I once had a z1000 (with new paint work) parked on grass, using the prop stand, while I did something. I heard a crash! when I got to the bike the only item that was damaged was the handle bars. Those bars took the complete load of the bike bending at the Hole-thru point.

Thanks lads, I was thinking I may have to resort to clamping the wires on the outside of the bars as per the Z900 I had, or Z1R bars maybe the answer. Certainly starts adding up how much work it is just changing to lower bars.
