Can the camshafts stay in situ when removing the cylinder head??

Nope

You need to remove cams to get the cam chain off

Or.............. you could cut the chain - and refit with a replacement "rivet" type chain :wink:

No and you also must not refit both cams to the head once off as you risk bending valves.
