Been making the new loom tonight and all is going fine(ish). There is a red with black tracer that runs back down the loom to the take off where the brake light failure indicator relay is situated and the feeds for the coils. So far as I can make out this wire should feed from the dip switch on the LHS handle bar switch to the main beam side of the head light and the main beam idiot light. There is a female bullet basically under the tank and I'm ferked if I can work out why. I can't see why. I'v got a feeling the red with yellow tracer also does down there and that make no more sense and certainly there is no indication why this would be from the wiring diagram. There are places in the loom where cabling has been doubled up presumably to reduce volt drop, but I can't see what would plug into this under the tank. There is a half ohm resistor under the tank that has been taken out of circuit by a previous owner, but that is on the feed to the dip switch. As the headlight has been functioning fine without it I shall remove the wiring to it, unless anyone thinks I shouldn't, which will shorten the cable run from the head lamp switch the the dip switch and remove some more volt drop.

Me being thick, not helped by half a bottle of red last night - looked at it just now and it's clear as day - the handle bar switch wiring goes under the tank, durrrr! In my drunkenness I had somehow got it into my head that they went into the headlight! ... and our survey said ...

I've just about finished fitting a loom to my thou A2 but cheated and bought the Z-Power loom and switches , not ideal as you lose the hazard lights etc but perfect for a simpleton like me !!

No braver - more skint / tighter

Hazards are a dumbfuck idea on a bike anyway - at least on a bike with so little spare ergs in the lecky system. If just poured exopy resin into the bottom of the LHS switch so the Hazard switch bit will stay rather than be left with a hole but there will be no innards and no wiring for it.

It's surprising how much money I've spent on materials for the loom and in reality I've probably not saved very much at all. But it is a challenge and if it works I will feel a level of satisfaction. I have to admit though, that it is far more complex than I envisaged. Best I go back to the workshop and warm up my soldering iron!

Spose it depends if your bike keeps breaking down or not...needless to say I don't need them..

Nope not had any breakdowns at all on the Z1-R.
Ive just found them handy when ive ha to pull over as the rain has got so bad and you cant see, just to let other roadusers aware/put on proofs or pull over if someone in the pack has had trouble
I was gutted there was none fitted to the "WD"
Anyway its only a switch 3 extra wires and an extra relay

The Z1-R did not breakdown,it merely conked out,
a total Tosser to start.
Many thanx to Phil aka Stig (silver Z1000) it FIRED BACK INTO LIFE
And the Z1-R got me home
