Battery drain

#1 PostAuthor: Farmer » Mon Jun 20, 2016 10:06 am

When I leave the ltd for a couple of weeks the battery is down enough to stop me starting it, before I start poking about with a multi meter I thought I'd ask here first, is the fuel gauge live all the time as it doesn't move when you switch off. :D

I know nothing about Z1000 Ltds, but could be -

Dodgy battery ?

Could be a faulty Regulator / Rectifier ? vFaulty earth on the Ignition circuit?

Check Earth handle bar / switch gear, Kill switch and Earth wires within Headlamp, and under seat.

Hope you get it sorted. I hate electrics.

The fuel gauge (same as J) has no spring return on it.
The last registered level when the ignition was on, stays visible as the level you have.
Looks like it's broken or still live but it's neither.
Friad you'll need to look somewhere else.

Everything works as it should including fuel gauge, charging is spot on, battery is 1yr old yuasa AGM and keeps charge if disconnected, I'll have a poke about with the multi meter.

Thanks.

sounds like something is drawing current even when switched off.

suggest you put meter on mA and see if that confirms it with the ignition off.

Then its a case of disconnecting stuff until the drain goes away.
