Carbie & Cam Chain

#1 PostAuthor: nicomkii » Fri Jun 03, 2016 10:36 am

Two part question for the A1.

Firstly when up to temp and moving from a standing start I need to feather the throttle. If I roll it on it bogs down and kills the motor, just easing it on a little and increase the revs it gets smooth enough to take off. Does this sound like the pilot circuit ? I haven't had the mikunis off yet so don't know the internal setup is and I haven't got any jets to change the setup. Everywhere else in the throttle range it reacts sweet, it has 4 into 1's and pods fitted.

Second question is the PO fitted a manual cam adjuster, I always had the auto ones myself, whats the rule of thumb for how often to adjust and an Idiots Guide to adjusting correctly ??

Try raising needle (lower clip) to bring more fuel in, just on throttle - this effects from "initial throttle-1/4 throttle", depending on needle/needle jet's fitted.

Manual c/c adjuster...... use kickstart and load engine slightly (slackens rear of cam chain). Loosen adjuster lock nut and wind in by hand until resistance is felt; back off 1/2 turn - done :!: Tighten lock-nut
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
