I've got the GPZ900 in at work tonight, stopped on the way in and even though bike was in neutral the idiot light didnt illuminate nor could I start it.After a bit of rocking in and out of 1st something worked to bring the light on and let me get to work in time to start nightshift (bugger ).
No tools and fingers crossed it is all ok in the morning as its bloody 9degrees out there so dont want to be stuck freezing my raisins off. Is there any hints on roadside tricks if it does go pearshape so I can get home to my warm bed and look into it on the weekend ?

If the bike doesn't think it's in neutral, pulling the clutch lever in should over ride the cut out.

I think the PO disabled the clutch lever sensor, its position makes no difference. Was first thing I tried when the button gave me that deathly silence 1st time.

Only 9'c..... how on earth do you cope?.
Not that familier with the GPZ , but does it have a side stand switch?

Think I found the issue, went down to the basement at lunch for a look. Found the neutral switch, there is a bit of oil around it, possibly causing a bad connection. Oil came from the water pump shaft seal I replaced through the week. Gave that all a clean and will see how that goes.
( Does have the sidestand switch still connected but that has no affect on the starter circuit more to do with interlocking if you try and take off with the stand down)

I had a neutral light issue not long after getting mine on the road. Put on my spare old one and that failed within weeks.
Bought a new one and all is well.
