It kicks back in straight away when I ease off the throttle. It ticks over fine and seems to be charging ok.I can ride round the problem by riding slower but I would prefer to sort it
It has what look like the original points system fitted.
Its used almost daily as well so would like a long term solution
I am thinking an electrical problem with those symptoms?
Got a dyna s and taylor leads on the 1000 so tempted to go that way on the 900
Any ideas ,thoughts as to the cause or solution would be appreciated
Cheers

Sean, Theres no Silver bullet or Quick answer to this sort of Misbehaviour !!!! Gotta admit I too am leaning more towards electrical ...as a carb issue would normally show signs & symptoms more like ...... hesitation ,holding back, coughing & not an ON/OFF like occurrence that your detailing.
Doe's it appear any worse the hotter the bike gets ?.....electrical componants ( coils & condensers, Ignition Boxes etc ) commonly but not always break down when they get warmer or hot ? You indicate you have a Z1000 ! If this is the case (well thats a real Bone Arse ) this will make it easier for you to find the culprit.
One item at a time start swapping em out (fit & try Test/Ride it, then move onto the next part n do the same ! )..... either your carbs ( as a complete lump ) or your ignition, it doesn't really matter aye what one's first ! ...When you start on the ignition.... try the Coils first... then Back plate & whatever system is attached. Ensure when you evaluate the swapped item you put it under the exact same conditions each time i.e. Apples for Apples. By nature of the fault this ...it's best dealt with like this ...a process of elimanation for this sort of issue is the way to go but be prepared it could end up being a Curly one ......like say a loose ignition switch connection or (maybe even ...say soldered joint in Ignition switch itself ) ... or a dodgy kill switch button. What I'm saying is it could also be a vibration driven defect .Eventually you'll have a Eureka moment mate . Cheers, Johny B.
