Padders, was it satin or stain [as your post said]?
Are you having a touch of the "Paul Dorans"?

Sorry Ian, I thought you meant Satin - stain paint I have no idea about! and if the paint flakes it's because you haven't cleaned the crap off properly. PJ1 is the best I've found

Cheers again guys I will be spending a lot of time getting the old crap off before painting it SATIN, its winter what else is there to do. Bodyworks at the painters, frames stripped ready for powdercoating, one minute I had a bike now just a few boxes of parts.

.. unless you do decide to go down the STAIN route, in which case I would suggest:
"Ronseal quick dry" in a nice deep mahogany, does exactly what it says on the tin!

I don't know if New Zealand is counted as in the civilised world especially after beating Wales! Use contact us to see if they have a distributor near you.

Why not go the whole hog and get them powder coated- pricey, but will out last any paint.
I've used PJ1 in the past on other bikes and it is very good so I don't think you will be dissapointed by the results, like all paint jobs its all in the prep'
