So, I got a new chain and both sprockets, some new brake shoes and cush drive. Dropped the back wheel out this morning and thinking a whole heap of good was going to be done, but - I think I might have missed a bit.

The DID 630VS O Ring Chain I got - no piggin' master link ! - Should there be one in the chain box or do I have to buy one ?

And if I do have to buy one - are the ones advertised for DID 630V ok for a chain marked 630VS ?

And assuming I do have buy one -should I use the hollow rivet or solid rivet version ? I do have a chain breaker/maker and assume the hollow version is easier to flare?

I know I must stay well away from a clip version.

The last chains that i've bought don't come with a link anymore .
As long as the link you buy is for an O ring chain then it'll be fine .
As you say the hollow pin links are easier to flare .

Guess what was hiding in the sprocket packing - a chain link kit - whoo hoo.

One other question - about the front sprocket - I thought a 900-A4 front sprocket has a raised bevel on one side (the inward face). My original does - the new one doesn't - does that matter ? - I'm thinking of putting a washer behind to create the bevel as the chain is running mighty close to the casing.

Without the bevel - wont the back and front sprockets be a millimeter or so out of true ?

The bevel on the sprocket was to stop the o-ring chain from catching on a transmission cover screw because it's slightly wider than a non o- ring one. Rear sprocket also had a spacer behind it.
