Hi all, is it possible for a fooked alternator rotor, to sound like something amiss within the front of the camchain tunnel? Have pinpointed a low clanging noise from the front top of the head?

if the rotor is fucked it will sound exactly like Keith described and it will not be in anyway tinny

Thought so, just clutching at straws! It's in the chain tunnel, tensioner wheel/blade?

Probably the little front slipper guide has broke and the noise is the camchain slapping about.

When my rotor was working loose... it started as a light rattle then it went thru a tinny noise... then started knocking (all within the space of < 100 miles). That was on my old Z1000

No! It will just be those 3 hex headed bolts at the back of the rotor that have come loose... Re-tighten.. You could get lucky!

Fraid not, rotor is virtually in two pieces! Smacked all the stator windings in the casing, bent the mounting bolt too! Will the A2/Z1R rotor fit the A1 crank?
