Hi all
Just need some advice on whether my zed needs a rebore. It has done 69k miles and is burning oil, but have been advised to have a rebore rather than fit new piston rings. I really dont want to have to do anything again once rebuilt. I am doing the valve seals too. If rebore needed then is a specific size needed etc ? Any info would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, would be surprised with those miles if you could get away with just rings, would say at least one set up on pistons and rings plus rebore and hone, get your valve guides checked for wear and only use genuine Kwak or Viton valve seals, all the others seem to fail very quickly,as and aside dont be tempted to use some of the nasty pattern gasket sets out there as a minimum use gen Kwak head and base gaskets and the rubber slug shaped between head and barrels the slug in particular in copy sets is half the depth of the gen ones and always fails, got T shirt etc..Cheers Paul J
