z1000 frame bracing

Hello all,

I'm rebuilding a z1000a1, which is going to be a very standard looking bike, though I'm considering bracing the frame , especially the under tank section as it just looks like they forgot to finish it off!

If I do it I'll make a simplified version of what Sanctuary do, though looking as 'factory' as possible.

It doesn't look like anyone sells a kit like this (zpower might, but what I've seen of their project bikes on their site the gusset above the swing arm pivot looks wrong).

If I were to draw the tubes and gussets up and get profiles lazer cut would anyone out there be interested in buying kits?

To this end, does anyone know the wall thickness and grade of steel used on the frames? (No offence, but I mean actually know, not guesswork).

Thanks,

Olly

I don't think it is possible to buy kits anymore, I spent quite a while looking.

I found a few posts on US sites which suggest that kosman arent interested anymore, so aren't reliable.

I think it was them that I emailed a few years ago when I was looking at improving a gpz1100b2 frame. After a few tries they said that their z1 kit will fit a gpz1100, which I didn't believe, and gave me a price which I can't remember. When I asked what I actually would get for the money I never heard from them again. Doesn't encourage me to send them money.

Thanks for the tip about the article in PS - I've got a copy now.

Thanks also for the kosman illustration - they did a similar job to the Sanctuary bikes, close to what I've got in mind.

This is a good forum. Thanks.

I think Z1 enterprises sell them, but their website is down at the moment.

Well, shows how much I know.... I'd never heard of Webike, or Z1 enterprises.

Webike have a lot of shiny shiny things.... You could spend some serious money on that site. Damned if I can find their frame kits though. Any chance of someone posting a link?

I'm guessing that the prices shown would be plus taxes and shipping from Japan, so a good 20% ish on top.

Thanks,

Olly

Z1 Enterprises website.

http://www.z1enterprises.com - give them a bell, or drop them an email.

Thanks for the link to z - fever. Over 200 quid plus shipping seems a bit ripe though.

We'll see. I'll drop z1 enterprises and think about it.

Thanks for the info.
