Hi guys, I've just built from the ground up a Zeph 750 with a GPZ 750 engine, zeph 11 swinger and shocks, ZX9 rear wheel and forks, KR1 front wheel so I could keep the mechanical speedo drive, Tokico 6 pots etc. Anyhow I've been thinking How hard would it be to fit a Z650 clutch cover and kickstart shaft ? Doable, but, you may need to fit 650 transmission cover and clutch cover and 650 gearbox if you have used the unitrack engine. Clutch release is on clutch cover where as on 650 it is in the lh side of engine and the clutch pushrod runs thru the middle of the gearbox shaft.
Of course you would also need the kickstart mechanism, return spring etc, but i'm sure the drilling in the crankcase is there for the kicker shaft along with the 2 holes to take the retaining screws that hold the plate.
If you have used the 750 gpz engine from the twin shock model I think they still had clutch release on lh side so a lot easier and less parts needed.
Give me a shout if you need any parts, I have a kickstart and possibly gearbox and kickstart mech. Jim

Hi Jim, thanks for your reply. It's a twin shock GPZ and not the hotter cam UT model, wish it was, But as you say on the plus side it's a lot less work I'll have to do a little more measuring to make sure the kickstart will clear everything when it's getting kicked over but I'll be in touch shortly when/ If I do the conversion. The engine has just been fully rebuilt so if it needs the 650 gearbox I won't be doing it at all. Bit more research needed I think before I commit. Cheers $tevie.
