Hi
Just trying to find out 100% in which position Kawasaki put the gold stripe ( the one between the blue and white ) on the fairing of the 1000/1100R in relation to the cutout for the headlight adjuster .

Image

I have seen it in many different places on many different bikes . Has anyone got an R with original paint or a detail picture from a Kawasaki catalogue where you can see exactly where it is ?
I think it goes through the cutout like I have indicated here but I could be wrong.

Sorry its a bit anal but might as well get it right !

I believe the stripe does not go round the fairing, as you can see from these two pictures of a friend's brand new 1100R

But there is an expert on 1100R's in Reading who restored this one and they do on his...

But in either case the gold stripe seems to run at the top of the adjuster cut-out, not through the middle.

But then again on this obviously new sales brochure pic, the stripes wrap around to inside...

Thanks Mark
The 2 pictures of the green bike are just what I needed . I remember from my 1100r that the stripes certainly went round the corners but unfortunately I have no pics of the bike with the original fairing as I had an incident with a grass verge which reduced it to many small pieces ! Super pics of your mates bike I must say I had never noticed the stripes on the blue version before but then I have only ever seen 1 in reality and that was sprayed green quite quickly cause no one wanted to buy it in its original colour !
Good luck with your sale ,shame you have to
Cheers Richard

Not sure about the sale, it's a lot to ask of someone who has not seen all the parts it has the emotional attachment that goes with acquiring them.

I'm wavering towards sorting all the parts out, keeping the best of any I have more than 1 of which will...

a. Clear some space
b. Clarify the project
c. Release some funds
d. Help me to remember what I have
c. Drive me away from building 2, which is a bit daunting

Hi Mark
Sounds like a good plan , especially if you reserve a front mudguard clock set and handlebars for me oh and maybe frame and wiring loom too !
Was very tempted by initial sale but do not have 5k or the space but I can say I sold mine
In 1995 also for personal reasons and have regretted It ever since .

Seeing as I am no longer anorackish about these things I travelled back in time to ask myself a question.

It turns out old me says 1100R1 stripes stop at the fairing bezel whilst 1100R2 stripes continue all the way through.

I don't think there is such thing as an 1100R2, there is a 1000R1 and 2. The 1100R1 and 1000R2 are most similar, so if the 1000R1 stripes were short and the 1000R2 wrapped around, that explains the 1100 ones wrapping round, but not the pic of that blue 1100. Unless the blue ones were different?
