Hi,

Don't all laugh at once.... I'm looking for a set of origional exhausts from a 1977 a1 (4 into 2)

I have a set but cans are beyond repair (down pipes are good, just some damage on the cans and metal too thin to weld.. Baffles rattling around inside too)

Cash waiting for a good set!!

Original A1/2 pipes are made of unobtanium - to give you an idea a NOS set sold a few months ago for £1700.

A few people have gone down the Z1 4x4 route which while not original looks much better than some of the hideous Harris style 4-1's you see on some Thou's..

Not wishing to hijack your thread Simonh but I have a similar problem with my Z1000J, all down pipes are good but I need silencers. I was going to post asking if there is a known fix where I can fit pattern silencers to my original system? (might be a solution for you too?).

'Nowt wrong with 4-1's, and given the availability (and price) of original A1/2 pipes they are pretty much the only choice for many. I just think something along the style of a Alfa/Piper or even a chrome Kerker looks MUCH more suited to the bikes lines than the Harris.

Paul,
If Simonh isn't interested in the J pipes and you still want to sell them, drop me a PM to discuss please.
Cheers,

You could take a look at this company. They make stainless systems to replicate the originals. I have a set on my Z650 (it's on their website). They also have a picture of a Zed thou on there.

Good quality, but not cheap.....but cheaper than originals !!

Thanks for the comments,

I'm really not sure what to do... I entered this project with the vision of the finished bike been as close to factory as possible, really disappointed that the exhausts are past it and like trying to find hens teeth.

It will have to be an origional set or advice from you guys which "is the ones to have" aftermarket wise.

I've spoken to OSM pipes and a full system is £850, made from stainless too... But they are "kicked out" by around 50mm to accommodate the side stand also have a slightly smaller diameter etc as its near impossible to hand build the creases in them.

I've got some thinking to do.....
