Z1R Silencer / Centre Stand bump stop

Spent some of today putting shiny bits and painted bits back on the Z1R.
I am fitting an aftermarket silencer (though near identical to original).
Problem is the rubber stop to the centre stand needs inserting in the silencer bracket.
The stop - where it goes in the bracket - is conical shaped, but at its narrowest point is about the same diameter as the hole. It is simply too big & wide to go in.

I have tried heating it in boiling water to make it more pliable and also using washing up liquid as a lubricant but to no avail.

I know one or two people have fitted these silencers and wondered if there was an easy way to do this -
(apart from filing the rubber down to make it smaller!.)
Cheers

Kevin,

Try harder :D

I used hot water, washing up liquid and a pointy screw driver pushed through the hole to lever the tip of the cone through the hole- that will do it

Agreed
It will fit eventually but it is an absolute pain - worse than Z1 silencer stops and they aren't easy.
It's almost like it has been made slightly oversize.
Persevere and you will get there.
I lubed it with washing up liquid, clamped the bracket in a workmate and then used a flat blade screw diver to ease the rubber into place whilst turning it under pressure to get more to go under.

ha ha

I remember taking mine out to paint the bracket and couldn't get it back in again. I ended up using a door stop rubber from Woolies and bolting it in with a big washer on the bolt.

I can report it that indeed it will fit if forced

I can also report that a small flat blade screwdriver will produce alot of blood if forced into your finger - I do not recommend that method.!
