here goes, rebuilt my a4 over the last couple years, got it running, sounds lovely ticking over about 1k revs. revs nicely on the drive but when out on the road it struggles to pull away and does get slightly better when it warms up, if accelerating it is rough, sounds like its missing. during the build it had new rings, cam chain etc, dyna s ignition, it had green dyna coils which I changed to try and solve it, carbs stripped cleaned and rebuilt, new rubbers to head and airbox. I think it may be fuel related as the inline filters struggle to fill up when fuel tap is turned on, checked the breather ( same when cap open). If the tap disconnected from the carb and turned on it gets a good flow, seems to be only when connected to the carbs!! pulled the tap of and there was some crap around the reserve pipe so cleaned that and swilled the tank but still the same. got the wired George mod also.
any ideas?

Hello, Id be inclined to try it without the inline filters first because its an easy thing to eliminate. Try riding into a misfire & cutting the engine, coast to a halt & look at the plugs to see if its weak on all 4 cylinders equally (prob fuel starvation) or if its a 1/4 or 2/3 related issue ie an ignition issue.

Wayno, just thought I'd mention a problem I once had. Fuel flowed freely from the pet-cock, however, when I put the tube back on the pet-cock the inner part of the rubber tube doubled-back on itself, hence, restricting the flow.
Another item may be stale fuel.... they don't last long these days.
Another thing may be slightly bent valve(s)... Give her a compression test with throttle open. It can easily happen during a rebuild!

The cars were supposedly rebuilt with new kits but a mate suspects needle jet doesn't look right, there is a mark of some sort, maybe pitting, can I get the needle jets separately or only in full kits?
