inspect his nappy tomorrow
have you tried a different key? these old locks often wear out and accept different keys or even a screwdriver, but be sure to take the registration document with you should you use the screwdriver method because if you are stopped they will take the bike off you until you supply the docs

If the locks are original there should be a three number code on the front of the seat lock where the key goes in. You can get a spare key cut to this number which should match the ignition. Or alternatively just look up the number on ebay and buy a ready made one.

As an Eg..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Kawas ... 2c97816947

Mick, I've tried all the keys in my useful box of keys, no go, don't want to use the screwdriver method either, Garry I thought of this but there is no number on either locks, are US bikes different ?.

What about this,

Get your 2 1/2 year old in a head lock.
Tell him the "teddy" gets it, unless he gives the info about the keys.

I'm sure it will work.

I have a few spare keys.

The number is usually on the seat lock.

I've looked at the ignition barrel, well as much as I can and there is no number, I have also looked at the helmet / seat lock and all I can find is L O N or L 0 N

There is nothing stamped on my ignition, seat or fuel cap barrels at least not on the outside.
My original ignition key has Z5450 stamped into it and i believe this to be period.
My spare key is cut from a blank marked KW7, its a Silca from Italy.
I have used the tapered (blank) end of a large cable tie before to start the bike!!

It's definitely a capital N and the L is like a capital L
