Have searched through previous posts but no luck, is there any adjustment on the lever ? mine just slides back again on its own, so its a case of holding it open which is not ideal.

As Z1Bman says... The spring loaded screw needs tightening.
The spring (small flat section, double coil spring washer) may be broken (usually breaks in half). You may be able to put a fibre washer in, to give a bit of tension.
The good thing is you never have to worry about leaving the choke on for ten miles or so! which fouls the plugs.

Cheers for that, think mine must be broken then.

Mines got the spring washer & a fibre washer on there, have opened the spring up a bit but doesn't seem to make much difference, are new springs readily available ?

Yes but you have to go to Suzuk1 for spares.
Spring - #13426-43010 replaces Kawasaki #16040-009
Plain Washer - #13615-43010 replaces Kawasaki #16039-020
Plastic Washer - #13432-33110 replaces Kawasaki #16039-019
The plastic washer grips the lever, supported by the plain washer which is pushed by the spring - tensioned by the slotted screw head bolt.
The bolt is not available easily.
Mikuni #VM28/269
Kawasaki #16046-005
Suzuk1 do a superceded part that will do - #13438-33110 - but it has an ugly cross head - not the slim slotted head original.
I get my Suzuk1 parts from CMS in Holland but Robinsons Foundry in the UK would probably do them too.

Cheers for that, I've used Robinsons before so will give them a call.
