Unitrak oil level sensor

My Unitrak oil level sensor bench tests okay and switched the tell tale light on as I was filling the sump. However once the engine is running the oil light does not go out.

Any thoughts?

if your confident the switch is working as it should i would do a pressure check

I wouldn't know how to or where to do a pressure check.

Any pointers?

as u say its an oil level sensor !! nowt to do with oil pressure it should go out when ignition is on (if theres enough oil in).. could either be wiring prob ?? unplug it if light goes out switch is faulty ..

Hi Steve.
I believe I have sussed the problem.

There is now a mismatch between the level sensor and the clocks I am using. I came to this conclusion after speaking with Bear and have to say that coming from the depths of despair I now know what is going on. (I was worried that the pump wasn't pumping)
It seems that the level sensor works only with the LCD panel from either the J3 model or Unitrak. Some sort of black magic going on inside these panels.
I could reverse the signal by use of a relay as the way it is at present the light comes on when the sump is full. My logic was telling me that it should have worked because the oil would be lower in the sump once circulating in the galleries. Not so.

On reflection I would prefer a pressure sensor so have asked in a separate topic if anyone has a GPZ B model oil cooler take off. If that requires reversing its operation then a simple relay mod will cover that.

the unitrac motor runs a low pressure oil pump and roller brg crank ..hence why it has no oil pressure light ..it was more important to keep the level right hence the level switch ..dont think an oil pressure switch will work or be of any kind of use ..as u say on the uni it was on the tank pod lcd display ,,but also flashed a warning lamp on h/bar dash.. maybe some electrical wizard will be able to tell you a way to get it to work on b clocks ..

Thank you Steve.
I will just reverse the sensor operation via a relay then.
