Caliper troubles.

Hi,
I've noticed my front calipers have a bit too much up/down movement for my liking and will not ride now until this is sorted. One side is much worse than the other.
Took out both pairs of slide/bolts this morning and noted no 'O' rings, dust seals were there, but some wear on the shafts, and some on the caliper body/ housing too, hence the excess movement.
Q. is, what's acceptable in movement terms, and the best way forward. Would the missing 'O' rings cure the slack.
Piston seals were rebuilt previously and are still sound.
Has anyone used Powerhouse (on eBay) in Sheffield.

Look and sound OK.
Cheers

And so I thought. No way to get those O rings in this afternoon....how is it done! They look too big even with worn pins/brackets, just no room in there. Pissed off, put it all back , still too much play. Rides and stops perfect, no grab or pull but this is not right. Regrets looming.....😕

buy the genuine ones the pattern ones are over size & will cause the brake to bind but they are not cheap

Thanks z1bman. I thought Powerhouse knew there stuff, but there's no way these O rings will go in there I'm sure. I will grill them about this, as £76 for 3 kits should of cured this.

For the ST fans, please take a closer look at the picture above. I need to confirm that they are actually ST.
Do the slide bolts, grooves and carriers look correct?
Powerhouse have been very communicative and are certain that an ST seal kit is what I have here. There parts are top quality and feedback is 100%.
As long as I have the correct calipers fitted in the first place, then there must be excessive wear on the slide bolts and brackets shown above. They should be a fairly tolerant fit I'm told and certainly should not rattle up/down!
Saisei have been very good too and have told me the bolts are the same as those fitted to the Z13. Alas, these bolts and the caliper carrier brackets are not available anymore.
Will think about this before a complete strtipdown, otherwise it may sit here all summer.
Where there's a will.....

I think that i have some ST bolts Alan .
Give me a day to root them out of the correct box that they'll be hiding in .
If i can dig them out you can have them .

Aztec - a few months ago I rebuilt my Z1300 calipers, new seals, stove enamel etc: for the elusive rubber sleeve, I used some fuel hose same diameter as the bolt recess, placed in near boiling water for a few mins, applied a liberal supply of rubber grease and they slipped on a treat. I got the flat edge as OEM ones by gentle use of a polishing wheel.
May not be as good as original, but they've been on the bike since Feb and movement is spot on.

We're thinking along the same lines here! Alas, I tried to 'sleeve' one of the bolts pictured here, with electrical heatshrink. It could of worked, but it won't feed through the first part of the caliper body, no wear/clearance here. In contrast, the support bracket bore is well worn, and my idea was to get the sleeved part of the bolt into that section.
Something fishy about these calipers. Will think on.
Cheers.

I have the bolts and the brackets , no rubber sleeves though .
The dust seals for the bolts have split too .
Not sure if these are in any better order than your own .
You're welcome to them mind if they're of any use to you .

Thanks again. All info and advice on this has been helpful. Alas, I'm stuck with no solution at the moment.
Would I be better sourcing alternative model calipers I wonder. Something more popular and easily fixed. I recall early GS/GSX stoppers and many more besides, were more car-type, ie; twin piston, without no sliding bolts, like the rear one fitted to the ST in fact. So efficient.
In limbo, but I shall keep my eyes open at Kempton Park this Saturday.

I actually put 4 pot tokiko calipers on mine.
Will take a photo at the weekend you show you.
My calipers used to pivot up and down instead of sliding.
I had thought of having sleeved made for them but a simple brakes and the 4 piston calipes was a better solution
