				Arcing contact breaker

Following a rebuild I was checking the CB gap and found that the 1 & 4 one was pitted with a hole on one face and a 'spike' on the other face. Dressed both faces down but on starting up the C/B is arcing all the time.
Is this likely to be due to a failed condenser or some other cause? 2 & 3 C/B is OK but you still get the odd spark across the faces.

It sounds like condenser but you could try swapping the condenser wires over to see if the other set of points arcs instead.

Good idea, I'll try that.
I guess the only full time solution is to fit electronic ignition?

				Yes! most likely a condenser.
Fit a Dyna 'S' and you'll never have to touch it again.

Have heard that there are/can be problems with the Dyna's being a bit power hungry due to their long dwell angle and as a result can leave the battery not getting enough and being drained? Is that correct?
Have had a look and there does not seem to be a separate amp box with the Dyna's are they encapsulated into the pick up sensors?
£90 in US £130 UK!!!!!!!!!!!

				No.
They're fine. All my Zs have them
Don't like over voltage though

Never had any problems with them.
Have had the same Dyna AND battery on my Z1R for 17 years and I use it almost every day.
Have got Dyna's on all my Zeds.

If you're worried about Dyna S "being a bit power hungry", battery supply direct to coils via relay (wiredgeorge mod)
is noticeably an improvement and recommended for full fat spark. I agree with others, Dyna S not normally a problem.
