wheel helicoil

hello gents i've had some wheels powder coated put the bearings back in tyres fitted and balanced and came to put the discs back and there must have been some debris left in the threads did'nt see it and stripped a thread and worse still snapped one of the studs off. does anyone know if its safe to have them heli coiled or time serts fitted and any company in the south yorkshire area who could drill the stud out and heli coil them or are they scrap.

A straight forward job I'd say.

The heli coil will make it stronger than original (if done properly).

Thanks for the reply mate forgot to mention the snapped stud is titanium Is this any more difficult to drill out.

I know titanium is a cnunt to machine, I'd imagine drilling will be a cnunt too.

I'm sure Rob will be the best guy to ask about that.

if you can't drill it you'll need to find a company that does spark erosion.
I was at Benetton engineering about 10 years ago watching them use this technique to make wheel hubs for their F1 cars

Rob is zed1015 in this case I think
