Advice required on how you are meant to hold things steady (locked) so as to successfully torque up the Clutch Hub Nut and Alternator rotor bolt.
I read somewhere that you are meant to select a low gear and then hold down on the rear brake.... well this does not work.
Can anyone advise as getting close to finishing engine rebuild ( almost 2 years

) but cant close her up until these are done.

Use a nylon ratchet strap arrangement to hold it steady. If you've got a long strap, wind it round the stator (anti-clockwise

) and seruce the free end to a strong point of the frame or footrest, etc. Job done - it won't harm the stator that way

Rattle (impact) gun is best way. Or make a tool using some old clutch plates...
You can also wedge a large screwdriver into the clutch basket & crank cogs... but be careful

Need to be very careful with those J, GPz, R, alternator rotors you can shatter or dislodge the magnets if you grip it round the outside.
You can either make something like this or Debbens can get hold of a proper tool for gripping it.
It locks into the counter-bores on the outer rim!
Other end is to hold the clutch on the one i made and it was from scraps in a metal bin and some old plates.

I'm guessing you welded it together in the dark with your eyes closed?
Better than I could do though!!

I sorted the clutch with the rear brake method but for the alternator rotor bolt I got desperate as nothing would hold it steady. Well in the end I used a bit of 4by2 in the back wheel which locked up to the swing arm and i finally got the torque wrench to click.
Felt like a right bodge merchant but without the right tool.....
Thanks for the replies.
