Reed Valve air recycling on K1

I saw an old friend on Saturday and we got talking bikes, he told me you can junk the reed valves in the cam cover and the bike will runner better, is this true ?. :)

yes - may need a bit of re-jetting, but ditch it & bung the holes up :wink: Thats what I'm doing to my Z1000 - with the MkII motor, and also fitted a proper round cam cover :!:

I tend to junk the air stuff on most bikes I get as it's a PITA, looks shite & is extra weight :lol:

APE do billet covers if you want bling or make youre own if youre less spendy like me. You could also put a solid gasket (spacer) to blank off inside the existing covers.

You can have the holes in the head plugged and / or block the tunnels in the cam cover with the same silicone adhesive you use for 'D' rubbers / carb holders etc.
I have been using Loctite SI 5980 from Debbens and other places.
You can also replace the cam cover with the Euro type with no emission controls.
You'll need to block the hole in the airbox with a bung but as piggy says you can basically park all the bits.
