Is there any advantage in using synthetic fork oil:

Or is the normal stuff the way to go?

Also is 10W the best for a Z1B with 13 stone on board ?

Steve, never used anything other than 'normal' fork oil.
15w is what I use ( but I erm, am slightly larger

), stiffer ride.

synthetic oil is mainly used in modern day bikes fitted with cartridge forks / trak bikes moto x where the fork oil is working harder than in a conventional set of forks like a z1. you can use either

Synthetic oil will probably piss past the fork seals on a Z1. Had synthetic oil in my ducati 999 forks and they 'misted' until I fitted some new updated fork seals

my reply is more philosophical if you like, we live in a world where the old ways are apparently being superseded by the new boffin made ways, mineral is what it is, a nice fairly natural oil largely made by nature (nice) synthetic is concocted and worked and forced into something unnatural (horrid) its the same with food, eat a plate full of veg from your garden and maybe some fish or meet from down the road and its natural and good for you(nice) eat a plate full of processed (synthetic) rubbish packed with e numbers covered in preservatives and its unnatural and bad for you (horrid). hope this helps, it will probably offend someone but thought i would answer the question the way i see things
absolutely no offence meant towards you wheelysteve.

No offence to me Mick, in fact very well put !
I'm off to buy some "nice" fork oil. Might invest in the progressive springs at a later date but just want to get out on the bike and use it now the weather is a bit better.
Thanks for the replies…...
