Caliper pistons

Have just bought some replacement pistons for my Z900A4.

The old ones, believe to be original, have a machined step in the front which a couple of thick type washers drop into, the front one having a domed surface which presses on the back of the pad. The washers are held in place by a ring that is pressed over the front edge of the piston.

The replacement pistons do not have the machined step in the front of the pistons so it is not possible to re-fit the washers. Is this correct as it now means the front of the piston, which is now fully open, now presses directly on the pad?

Is this correct/ok or is there another type of washer that has to be fitted to the front of these type of piston?

if you mean this type you don't need to use the washer

Yep, that is the type that is/was originally fitted.

These is the ones I have just bought:

Are you saying that I do not need anything fitted to the front of the open piston which now presses directly onto the pad?
