Lawson tank decal badge?

I have just finished adding the stripes, now all that's left is the super bike badge decal. It has the words in white ' super bike replica' underneath it. I'm not sure if that also has to be included. It seems a bit naff to me. Was it on the original R2's? I've looked for images on Google but haven't found anything I could rely on.

Thanks

I think US model R1 model only but I am no expert. Others on here far more qualified.

Thanks Martin. I know the badge is different to the R1. It has the dates 1981-1982 at the top and the kawasaki logo under the one. I suppose the wording should be there, otherwise why would it be on the decal? But it would be good to know for sure before I get to the clear topcoat. So thought I'd post it.

There are two decals.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAWASAKI-Z110 ... 1e8acbdfd0

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAWASAKI-Z110 ... 2c7e5a8b8b

When these were being sold as sew on patch's on the z1000r.com site the one with the signature was referred to as the 82 patch and the other with kawasaki and the dates was the 83 patch.

I put the latter one on my z1100r. However looking at some old bike reviews from magazines they do not all seem to have the decal.

I thought that the z1000r1 had the earlier decal. But I might have dreamt that !!!!

I am pritty sure that the 2nd one goes on the R1 and the 1st one goes on the R2, that's what Inhave on my R2 anyway.
If I remember rightly it was something to do with Eddie leaving Kawasaki and they had to change the badge, well it could have been a dream as well

Certainly wasn't on the white ones as standard. Politics.

bugger, I put the shield on there last night. I cut off the wording underneath though. Didn't want to have 'superbike replica' stuck on the tank, makes it sound crap. I haven't done the clear yet, but it might be too hard to get the shield off.

thanks for the replies.

Have a look on Paul's Z1000R rebuild thread, he had a couple of brochures.

No sticker on the UK bikes, I asked a mate who bought one brand new and he confirmed this.

Cheers, Paul

It was on the R1s. This is all to do with Eddie going to Yamaha at the end of '82, and Kawasaki weren't at all keen on selling a bike that was promoting a rider who was suddenly contracted to someone else, so they cut back on the Lawson references, (R for Rocket not Replica in the brochure) but I guess they already had the bikes in production for '83 plus there was a big demand for them so why would they not sell them. This is also behind most of the Euro bikes being white, the Yanks already had had the 1000 or so green R1s and wanted more so they got them - with Kerkers - but for the rest of the world it was mainly white. With two pipes. And no Lawson stickers on any of them.

When they made the 1100R they seemed to have lightened up a bit, plus they realised green ones sold better and people were painting white ones green so they dropped the white and made mainly green ones.

Or so I understand. I like the badge it should really have been there if Kawasaki hadn't had a strop. There are at least two stickers, the '82 sticker with Eddie's scrawl and Superbike Champion, as used on the R1s, and an '83 sticker with 1981-1982 Superbike Champion and Kawasaki's name instead of Eddie's - that wasn't on the Euro R2s, but I don't know it may have been on the US ones.
