I have purchased one of your K1076 kits for a 1982 Kawasaki Z1000J and have assembled the pistons and had the the barrels replaced. So I am all ready to put the head back on after lapping the valves and replacing the guide seals.

However I note that the Wiseco supplied head gasket (part W3918) is one piece whereas the OEM was two piece.

With this engine there are 4 ?O? rings on the corner studs and a large ?O? ring around the cam chain tunnel.

In the OEM gasket the corner stud holes are much larger allowing the ?O? rings to protrude through the gasket. In Wiseco the holes are much smaller and I have put the ?O? rings under the gasket. Is that correct fitment? Making the holes larger without the correct punch will undoubtedly have me destroying the gasket.

Similarly with the cam chain tunnel; the two piece OEM gasket leaves the large ?O? ring uncovered whereas with the Wiseco part it goes over this area. I have placed the large ?O? ring in its grooves under the gasket. Is that also correct fitment or should I do away with the large "O" ring altogether?

As usual there were no instruction in the kit and I couldn't find anything on the Wiseco site either.

Any views?

I think Steve Debben answered this in the last post about this - the Cometic gasket does away with all the rubber rings, the four at the corners and the big one at the tunnel.

Chris,
you are 100% right Steve did give me the information In my last post on this subject, but being a male I apparently didn't bother to read the thread through in entirety. Thanks for linking back to it.

Now what do I do with those "O" rings?

Cheers!
