V. Old wiseco 1015 4020PS rings - can't find them

#1 PostAuthor: malmojoe » Wed Jan 14, 2015 3:45 pm

I bent one oil ring rail on a vintage wiseco piston when refitting the cylinder. It has 4020PS on the top. Been in touch with a few places and ended up with a set of rings via gremlintech. The oil ring assembly is much wider than the groove in my piston - didn't check the other rings as the oil rail was what I'm after. So no go.
After hours of trawling online I found an old-ish pdf of wiseco pistons etc. which does list the 4020PS for kawasaki and has a ring number there too. YES!!, but no, the ring number is 2756XC which is what they sent me already and use on the current 1015 pistons and doesn't fit.
Any suggestions what I should do - other than replace all 4 pistons? Bike is a Z1 and this is all that's holding me up. My own fualt, the bike was running really well but I just had to have a look inside. :|

just been looking at the piston and as well as 4020PS I found XA which I think is the ring type. It doesn't exist on their catalogue but I've found rings on ebay with that on. I'll contact wiseco uk again and see if that helps. Thanks for your help Brent. I'll post back later.

You are correct.
Early pistons use XA rings which are thinner and were available from Debbens etc and will be the ones you need.
