front brake caliper ...?

I am going to upgrade my bike from single to double caliper
the calipers i have differ slightly, in that the piston on one pair is solid , the other pair are empty, (as photo), the question is why the difference which is better/why and what models are they from.

I agree, the one on the LHS is correct orientation.

The right hand piston has a ceramic insert to prevent heat transfer from the brake pad to the brake fluid in the caliper. It was a development on later models to prevent brake fade.
In real life it makes not a jot of difference.

Hi bunnyz,
i agree with dr.rod....i went through the same process as you did when converting kz1000a2 to a twin disc setup. Also make sure the disc thickness is the same as the one you already have....the american one is thicker than the euro one.
