Fork spring lengths

#1 PostAuthor: Richard Q » Fri Dec 26, 2014 9:45 pm

The only workshop manual I have is for the Z1, and mine is a KZ900.

It says the fork spring is 495.5mm long with a service limit of 485mm. I have measured mine at 467mm :??

I can only assume that the A4 ones are shorter, or mine are totally FUBAR.

Are they shorter? and if so I also have to assume the oil could be a different viscosity, amount, distance from the top of the fork. Does anyone have the correct figures please?

Much appreciated - Cheers

Ruchard

Thanks Paul

Been doing some reading and found some conflicting stuff, but one says they are 465mm and have a limit of 455mm, so I am going with that.

170ml of 10 grade fork oil, and 426mm from the top with the spring fitted.

How are you going to fit 535mm springs into a 465mm fork? Best of luck with that :)
