Degreeing in Standard Cams.

Has any one out there ever Degreed / Dialed in STANDARD 900 Camshafts ???? If so, I'd really appreciate your input here. I have limited knowledge & experience in this area but I want to try & keep the engines original mid-range torque & character as is , so i dont want after market cams..... just a little extra free H.P. & sharper running. Many-many years ago I slotted my existing Kawa 900 cam sprockets & I wrongly thought I'd dialed in my Std Cams correctly - ( I just recently stripped my motor & found a few slightly bent valves !!! ) Now I've just gone to carefully turn over my now rebuilt motor over ( by hand ) & found Valves are kissing & locking the motor ( I hope I havn't damaged my brand new Valves ! )
In recent years I,ve successfully dialed in Single cylinder Cams using a Vernier sprocket & the Lobe centre method ....but theres no Lobe Centre data I can find for dialing in Standard 900 Kawa Cams ( i.e. What ammount of Valve Lift should be applied .040 or .050 Thou... this being at where the degree Disc reading points are taken ?? & is this with Zero valve lash/clearance ?? & then of course..... what the optimum required Lobe Centre degree's for each Camshaft is ?? ) I can't seem to find any thing for setting up the Standard 900 OEM Cams. The manuals all have the cam degree open & closing values I may be wrong here but I don't think it's of any help to me & it's not a " Cam Timing Card" as I know them . Obviously knowing the correct proceedure & data is crucial so if you can help I'd really be grateful .......... Please PM me. ALSO If any one's got any decent Standard used 900 Cam sprockets I'd be intrested in buying them. THANKYOU. Johny B
