Piston rings

Went to fit the new pistons today and found the rings are different then the originals.

The oil control ring (lower one) is now a three piece one.

But the second one down has the notch in the wrong place. The manual and the original have the notch on the outside of the ring, against the cylinder wall, on the bottom. If you fit the new rings with the writing upwards as per the manual, the notch is on the inside against the piston and is on top?

Questions are

1/. Are these suitable?

and if so,

2/. Which way up does the notched ring go?

I might give the supplier a call tomorrow as well

One piece oil rings are old hat now, 3 piece ones are fine.

The one with the cut out is a "tangential load" ring. They "bell ville" upwards (as in the washer) when compressed & flatten out with gas pressure on them to form a better seal under load.

Hope that helps.
