Hello There,

Going to tidy up my forks with new dust seals and fresh oil.

Has anyone got the Kawasaki Service Manual for Z1-R D1 1978 handy to say which viscosity of oil and how many cc's it takes please?

Or anything else useful it says about doing it - such as how many mm from top of fork the oil should be when it is right.

Thanks from Mark

My manual says the D1 spec is the same as A2 -
works in capacity rather than mm from top - others may be able to advise.

each fork capacity is 180 ~ 188cc
Oil Type: SAE 15W

I would think the volume of oil assumes the fork is completely drained empty.

If I were taking apart completely I might consider a fork spring upgrade.

Cheers Kev,

I want to try and leave the springs and everything else standard.

Plan is to get the forks off, wash out the internals, replenish correct oil and fit new outer seals - they have cracked a bit with age - inner seals still holding ok.

But thanks for the help.
