WHICH ELECTRONIC SYSTEM ??

#1 PostAuthor: jimmock » Wed Dec 03, 2014 9:52 pm

Guyz,

Going to get in about one of my XS 650's over the winter!!!!!

I'm going to "go modern" with the spark.

What would you suggest electronic wise??

I have sold a few bits and bobs lately so I actually can see a bit of my grey concrete floor!!!
So time for a project.

I will obviously keep you all updated with a photo here and there!!

I've never had a thread in "projects" yet!!!

Tut Tut Jimmock I'm gobsmacked that your even considering staying away from OEM, next thing we know you will be powder coating the frame and using stainless fasteners- shame on you :gom

I fitted a Boyer to my XS650 last year.... it worked better than points, but was a bit of a phaff :|

I got the whole set which included micro coils..... The conversion included a length of threaded studding which goes thru' the cam shaft... a bit "Heath Robinson" TBH :!:

It was however, the cheapest & easiest to acquire
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

YES INDEED!!

I will be powder coating everything black that was black.

Stainless is a standard option for me for everything that can be stainless.
The paintwork will not be standard.
I will be putting straight bars on.

I want something "complete" but not standard.

Not a full Café Racer but something towards that style.

I have the wheels complete just now.

Polished hubs, new bearings and seals.
New tyres, tubes and tapes.
And of course stainless spokes !!
