Engine Oil

What engine oil do you guys recommend for my z900 a4.

Over the years I've used many different makes, BP Visco Static 20W50, when that became unavailable other makes that I can't remember & currently I use Motul 5100 10W40. Years ago, when I asked Kawasaki they advised against fully synthetic, saying semi-synthetic was best.
Any good quality oil should be OK.

Risk of oil leaks with fully synthetics, also maybe to thin for pump, good old 20 50 does

I run a Australian blended (Penrite )15w 50 High Zinc, Full Synthetic in my 900 Kawa it's designed & made for use with a Wet clutch & combined G/box & will work fine in your Zed too. Oil pressure when hot or cold will have the same characteristic's i.e it will reduce in pressure as it heats & anyway these motors are a High Volume -Low Pressure system it is vesocity & chemical make up that really counts......& a 15w50 weight oil will give a better faster lurication when cold than a 20w50....& thats important as is the High Temp properties & High Zinc content is a must too. I use this Oil in my Triumph 1050 Speed Triples & various SR & XT500 ....which have my own expensive Hot/tuned motors in em too...NO problem but it's your choice .If you go Full Synthetic ...(which is what I recommend ) just ensure the oil has/meets JASO MA specifications ...which is Wet Clutch -Combined G/Box
Consider this too ...Why do all the Sports bikes of today use Full Synthetic oils ???? because it's crap or because it's amazing oil for amazing performance engines that are totally reliable & yet can be used too as an every day form of transport. Sure old style cheap 20w50 will work OK but thats 40 year old technology & your motor will thank you & last much much longer on modern tech oil. My opinion only ! Research is'nt hard.

Full Synth is rumoured to be too slippy for ROLLER BEARING cranks..... the rollers spin rather than roll which is not how they're designed - UNLESS it is specifically design for them :|

Debbens recommend AMSOIL synth....

One thing fore sure I'd rather have old fashioned petrol than the crap they sell nowadays. :D
