Round tank 900's - Replacement Valves , Guides & Springs

#1 PostAuthor: johny brando » Wed Nov 05, 2014 4:47 am

Been / am considering using some Kibblwhite Valves ,Guides & Springs in my 900,s ! I'd be intrested in hearing the views from any one on the forum who has real world experience in relation to Kibblewhite Valve Train items & in particular Good n Bad alternatives to the very expensive but good OEM valve train items.... I thought Kibblewhite were supposed to be very good but I'm seeing alot of very negive reports on other forums now ...maybe I shouldn't be going there ? Your experiences & recommendations will be appreciated. Cheers Boyz. Johny B

Mmmmmmm OK Jim "& any others" I sort of understand your questioning .......so I'll Quantify why I put that:
' Round Tank 900's ' being Z1 a-b-& Z900 have different valves, and guides to ALL other None Round tank 900's ......i.e. GPZ 900r etc... Not mention all Z1000's too ...as they have different valves & guides as well (& yeh ...Before any people arc up - I know you can use Z1000 valves & guides but they are different in design ......check it out ) Please...I don't want a war of words, I was just trying to keep the post defind ,accurate & simple...thats all I mean.... after all this is a Z1 forum isn't it ! Cheers Johny B

I had never heard of Kibblewhite Valves, before today. So cant be of any help, sorry.

I think Cabin fever is setting in ? Tipping it down with rain here, wish I was out there in Australia. Whereabouts are you ?

Hope you get the answer, you are looking for.

Ta for now.

Johny,
I have kibblewhite valves & springs in my green 1075 zed - No issues at all
Good quality precession parts.
I have APE bronze guides, so I cannot comment on the KW valve guides

I have Kibblewhite bronze guides in my Z1R - No problems.
Only design difference to the later valves are the round keepers and the guides are cast iron as opposed to the 900's bronze ones which wore out quick due to the poor quality of their composition.

Thanks & yeh I did state I know the differences ...& cast is better in my opinion too , however I think you may find that to use Cast guides the valves have to be compatable too & maybe the OEM valve composition was modified too I think just ( maybe ) thats why the 1000 keepers are only usable on 1000 valves & not the 900 valves .......so you can't mis-identify em. I may be wrong here ! but why else would they change the design then ???
Luv your work by the way !!!!!! Cheers, Johny B

further message from "others" ie me, no war on words "johny", but the 900 only comes with a round "simple as" the z1000 is just that, a z1000 and the gpz900 doesnt come into question because as you say, this is the z1ownersclub, so thats why Jimbo and myself were confused by your comment

Yes! correct. The early valves don't mix well with the later cast guides and vice versa but didn't think it worth mentioning as most early heads would have worn out the guides by now and most get replaced with superior APE items etc .
