Hi guys any one out there know the un-molested , "Standard factory full lengh" (i.e. Valve head outer face to the Valve stem tip end face ) of the Standard factory Z900 valves ???? as I have to set up valve Spring height lenghs on a mates head that has had the valve seats cut & the valve stems ground down... so without the above required data I'm buggered & I cant work out the required shimming needed to get the correct spring height set up. Hopefully some one out there may have this Factory data that I can't find at the moment.

Having just done mine, there are two things you need to know.
First is that when the valve is in the guide and seated, the distance from the bottom of the pocket to the end of the stem cannot exceed 1.499 inch. [38.07mm], or you will be outside the shim range. I measure with a depth gauge.
Second is that you can grind the end face of the stem to bring into tolerance, BUT, YOU MUST NOT reduce the meat between the collet groove and the end face to below 165 thou [4.2mm] or risk the lifter hitting the collets and dropping the valve.
If you cant bring dimension one to below 1499, you will need oversize valves.

Hi Andy , Thanks but I am of course very aware of the that & the relative problems surrounding other clearances as I've done this a few times on Zed motors prior . But what I asked for was the Original un- molested OEM valve overall lengh of both inlet & exhaust valves, as I have various reasons to need & know this . I'm hoping theres some one out there that might put a Micrometer or Vernier on a pair of new OEM valves for me & provide a reasonably accurate over-all end to end measurement.
Cheers & thanks for your input.
