Z1000 A1 Turbo Header Pipes

Perhaps I should stick this in the `wanted` part of the forum as well, but thought I'd try here first.
Having done a 100 or so miles on my recently completed project zed what has become very apparent is that sooner or later I'm going to end up sliding down the road due to the ridiculous lack of ground clearance when taking R/H bends (that'll teach me to build a drag style bike for the road)...bearing in mind that I'm running it in and taking it really easy I only have to take a roundabout slowly and the bottom pipe, from cylinder no.4, on the V&H sidewinder drag exhaust already has a nice chamfer on the bottom where it's grounding out and lifting the back wheel. Over the winter I'm going to have a look at what possible options I have...shame because I really like the look of the V&H pipe.
One of the things that I've had an idea about is to base a 1-off fabricated exhaust end piece onto a set of Turbo header pipes, via the triangular flange.
Would anybody have an old set of turbo header pipes, similar to the ones shown in the photo that they may want to part with?....must be in reasonably sound condition.

That's a Mr Turbo set of headers there (side exit).
You could also look at the later 'Spyder' headers from ATP (American Turbo Pak) but they are so rare I think you'd have more chance of knitting fog.
If you did manage to get hold of some, as you can see they have a vertical exit flange.
The arly 'log' headers from ATP would be of no use to you though....

...thanks for the info.
Not too worried about make at this stage....either of those would be brilliant. The Mr Turbo ones appealed because, due to my raked frame, I can get away with a fairly complex series of balanced pipes without having to worry about clearance issues.....having said that, the ATP ones would mean that I could exit the pipe from whatever side of the bike I fancied.

IMO turbo header pipes will be ridiculously difficult to obtain and when you have obtained some, you'll have to modify them (possibly in a major way). So wouldn't you be better off having a system built from sctatch???
( if you struggle for a complete zorst, there's a guy just over the border in derbyshire I've been told about = mainly stainless, 1 offs for customs/ chops etc. Oh and vw's

)

Cheers Freddy....I was beginning to think as much with the info. that Big Fluff has given as well.
So it sounds as though a bespoke system may well be the way to go...Freddy, have you got any contact details for the chap in Derbyshire?
If anybody can recommend someone who could build a 1-off system that is fairly local to me....I'm iin Crawley, Sussex....I'd be much obliged.

Hi Paul, what about a Marving exhaust, it has a flat collector box, that should give you the clearence.
Failing that ring JB classics, based just off the A23 between Horley and Redhill, 01737 770068, ask for John, he made the exhaust for my Rickman and made plenty others over the years.

Foz....Thanks for the contact mate....I'm running a Marving on my A4 and must admit I thought of that as well. Trouble is with the raked headstock and the fact that I'm only running 17" rims front and back the ground clearance under the engine is really reduced....I'd most probably gain something on the cornering clearance but running over anything larger than a grain of rice and I'll ground the Marving collector box underneath. I still want to retain a drag race look so will most probably go for something along the lines of the above and keep it a bit more trick.

Yeah, this is very nice...that's a very similar arrangement, at least down to the collector box under the engine, that I could achieve with the Marving system. I've just found out that a mate of mine has the Marving down tubes and collector box hanging up in his garage...so I'll borrow them and, over the winter, offer them up to see if there is any way they could be a goer. I could then fabricate my own end section and have that exiting out the side....I'm still keen to keep a drag racing `look` with something a bit trick.

Similar pipes are Star racing pro stock and Murray Spyder.

With import duties that will be quite an expensive pipe.
I personally recon a '1 off' made to suit would be the way forward for you.
With the raked front on your bike maybe you have enough room after the collector to turn it 180* and have it exit in front of the engine?
