Guys,

Having a little trouble fitting Tarozzi rearsets on the Z1000, especially the brake side.

Thought these would almost bolt straight on as should be for a Z900/Z1000. But the black bracket that botts on where the original footpeg was has ‘cone’ shaped holes – or put another way they are narrower on the rear and wider on outside face. The narrow side is too narrow to go over the original footpeg bolts – so also no space for a rubber grommet like the original footpegs.

First question, should I just drill out the 2 holes to fit and should I drill them just big enough to fit over the bolts or big enough for some rubber grommets? How do I deal with the fact the holes are cone shaped?




The second problem is the brake push rod bracket doesn’t have enough offset to go round the back of the frame like the original. (sorry about the crap photos – but hope it shows what I mean)

So should I
Move the brake cylinder to in front of the frame – outside of the side cover?
Get an offset bracket made to take it behind the frame?
Get some different rearsets?

I had to open the holes out slightly to get them on to the frame mountings...once you get the old brake pedal off it should all line up

this is mine

Becker i had no issues with widening holes on mine, they did not need doing....are they the correct ones for that model? I did have an issue with your "second" problem though and made a 5mm spacer to slide over the shaft and but up against the frame lug.....it made the return of the lever correct. I'll take some photos if you want?

Yep, sent seller a PM and they confirmed again that these should fit ok - as seller did fit them temporarily to their race-rep special before using some different ones.

Yes please, the more photos the better.

becker, shouldn't the tarozzi's be 'cast' on what model they are for?? I'm sure on a gs I had years ago that was so.

I will take some photos of my Tarozzis, which has a JMC swing arm and put on here later today.

If I tighten the footpeg up tight - the Brake lever seems to touch / catch the brake arm linkage. - appears it needs to be left a little loose ?

Mine were new from Discovolante, and fitted perfectly other than opening those holes out with a reamer

Hmmm - bought mine from a club member, who bought them new from Discovolante for a Z900 project with a disc rear brake - he fitted them temporarily, but he didn't use them and took them off and went with some different ones. Will check it all again at weekend. Cheers.

Your last photo shows you trying to put the gear link rod into the brake side......I have instructions for assembly if you don't? have you mixed the bits up?
