sealing my tank with por 15

Hi guys, OK I'm halfway through the process of de-rusting my tank using washing soda and a battery charger and i have to say it's working pretty good. It'll take another couple of days to finish but can someone give me any tips or advice using POR 15 please ? I've never used it before and since my bike is a CSR 1000 the tanks are like hens teeth, so I just cannot go buy a replacement. How much POR do I need to order ? what should I prepare the tank with beforehand ? ie should I wash it all out with white spirit or something before I use the POR ? And anything else I should do, thanks guys, $tevie, PS just bought 4 new carb to airbox rubbers from Cradley. thanks again to one of you guys for pointing me in the right direction for those. Cheap @ under a tenner each.

Don't want to put you off but I used POR-15 and found it an awkward job and it started peeling off within 6 months. How about leaving it unlined and using the Aspen fuel which isn't hygroscopic like e-fuels?
I used it because of all the good reports out there but it didn't match my expectations.

I had to google Aspen Fuel, never heard of it and it certainly ain't available where I live (Outer Hebrides) We only just got Super Unleaded 2 weeks ago. The Second Option by Z1B man sounds better. Has anyone got experience of it ? $

Ive had por 15 in an h1 for 15 years and 5 years in a z1b, both solid. The prep is the key and a good couple of weeks curing at least

Ive had por 15 in an h1 for 15 years and 5 years in a z1b, both solid. The prep is the key and a good couple of weeks curing at least
Yep preparation, yes its a teewat, but if you want it right, patience and preparation ive just done an RD125LC Tank for a guy, leaking like a t**t from the seams at bottom edges it took me eight weeks but now no leaks!! he can have hours of fun tee cutting brown stains from edges ho ho, coz I'm not bloody doing It.

my worst experience to date was removing a clear liner on my h2a tank, the paintwork is stunnning on it but the liner came apart internally ( done a long time ago) I used a resin stripper from caswell which is extremely powerfull, had to sit the tank in all positions , even upside down
I masked the tank with masking tape all over, then applied marley drainage flash, a waterproof sticky bitument, sealed all the joints, then finally the tank inside 2 bin liners taped at the neck. no stripper got through to the paint, and the good thing was there were no holes in the tank...

The paintwork on the tank is crap anyway so that ain't a problem. God knows how it ever ran with the amount of S**T in there. I'm not in any hurry so that'll give the POR or whatever I choose to use time to cure properly. Thanks for all the input guys, Really appreciate it, $

I rate SureSeal by Tank Care Products very highly, it is a great product. Just be sure to read the instructions throughly and take your time!

You will not find a better product. But has to be done right, Tank has to be totally clean
most important DO NOT USE WHITE SPIRIT THIS IS OIL BASED AND LEAVES OIL RESIDUE. You need acetone or meth's to de-grease.
Directly after doing this bang in a full tin of por 15. No point keeping whats left over
you can't open the tin again.
