valve broke

#1 PostAuthor: mk2 1000 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 4:37 pm

I got a z1000 mk2 that was standing for about four years. I turned the engine too see if its okay. Turned it once and everything was looking okay. Got home and wana turn it again and there its stuck. Start to strip and found one valve broken. No mark or scratch on piston. Why did it broke?

What do you mean the valve is broken? Is it bent or in two halves?
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it.

valves are friction welded together, if the valve had been stuck open and the piston touched it could snap shut and pull the head off
