the slide height adjusters are under the top cover on the z900 /z1000 & on the outside of the carb's on the z1/a/a. 8mm lock nut with slotted adjuster. slide height measurement should be the same from z1 - z900 a4 the procedure of adjustment is the same only difference is where the adjusters are fitted

ok thanks thats as far as i have got. cam tops off and redy to go. There are 3 bolts or screws i am looking at.
1 is the bolt that clamps the piston to the round bar. no adjustment there
2 is a screw with a tab washer
3 is a screw inside a nut
Now i'm a gambler but the odds are stacked against me 50/50 picking the right one. I think the one with the screw and nut is for syncing the carbs!

Yes! It's the one with the screw driver slot and locknut.
No need to touch the others.

Correct Wayne. Now go and buy a lottery ticket.
The slotted screw is the adjuster once you have loosened the lock nut.

Z1, Z1A, Z1B carbs are different but the workshop manual for an A4 shows the right carbs.
UPDATE: - THE PDF WORKSHOP MANUAL I HAVE DOES NOT HAVE THE A4 CARBS SECTION IN IT. THE PHYSICAL ONE DOES. ALSO THE CLYMER MANUAL HAS THE RIGHT DETAILS AS WELL. NOT CHECKED THE HAYNES ONE AS I'D NEVER TRUST IT ANYWAY.
PM me your email address and i'll send you the relevant pages.
Also if you look at the how-to i did on synching carbs you should be able tosee which is the right one but its the one at the back connected to the slide itself not the one on the shaft.
