Z1 label on headstock

I've committed to getting the Z1 frame repainted but don't want to stuff up the manufacturers label on the headstrock. I saw on one of the members restorations that the label was covered with a section of PVC pipe of the same radius. Have made up a similar cover but was wondering if anyone has successfully removed the label and been able to replace after the frame was blasted and painted?

Yes, it can be done but it requires patience. I used a pair of Stanley knife blades and gently eased the blades under the label at a very flat angle. Carefully edge the blades along. You will take a very thin layer of paint with it. It takes about 10-15 minutes. TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!

Thanks z2.john but I ran out of courage to put the label to the knife. Used the PVC pipe cover and it has come up pretty good. Will post some photos eventually when I learn how to master the technology.
