Tried bleeding the front brakes on z1100r in the usual manner pump it up let it go .got a firm but not good brake .
Read the article on this page said about reverse bleeding with a syringe .so ordered a kit .have got the same result as forward bleeding.

Has anybody had a similar problem

take caliper off mount,bleed it upside down.

I have just done my front brakes on my uni-trak with the original anti-dive ,
I use a large syringe but i only connect the syringe tube to the bleed nipple and pull the syringe so you are pulling the air out then lock bleed nipple, with bleed pipe still on, then pump brakes ,release bleep nipple and keep doing this until all the air is out ,
I find you dont get brake fluid everywhere and it works a treat !

Also turn your handle bars to the left, so that the master cylinder is at it's highest position with relation to the rest of the pipework/system.
I think if you leave the handlebars in the straight ahead position the master cylinder, where the pipe attaches with the banjo bolt, is slightly higher than the small fluid feed holes in the master cylinder & air can get trapped in this area making it very difficult to get rid of the spongy feeling.

Put bars to left and tie back brake hard with a tie wrap leave overnight,then do again with bars to the right..
