Need advice on head repair

#1 PostAuthor: oldzed » Mon Jun 30, 2014 10:57 pm

Hi all

During my run back from blackpool I have discovered that I have a problem with the head on my z1000ST.

I had fitted a set of Inserts into plug holes 1 and 4 a few years ago.

No 1 is now leaking compression and feels like it will strip if I try to retighten it. I had used a locking compound in it at the time.

Need a recommendation for someone who could Weld up the plug holes and retap them.

I know I could change the head, and that may be an option, but all the shims are in the 280 range so I would like to save the head if possible

Regards

Are they helicoils or the solid timesert type ?
Oh! just re-read your post and they must be the solid type if fitted with Loctite.
You could take them out and have them re-threaded to take Bigserts .
